Budding Blog Party

Jess at I {heart} Recess hosted a Budding Blog party last week. I'm late, but I'm here! I'm finding it very difficult to find time during the week to blog AND I'm not always remembering to take pictures of things I want to share. *Need to get better at this!

Why did you start blogging?

I love being a part of this community of teachers. Education certainly has changed. We can not only be a part of our school community but a part of a global community, working for the good of the kids we see everyday.

I love sharing my ideas and resources with other teachers. I think we encourage and inspire each other to become greater teachers than we could ever become on our own.

What is your favorite subject to teach?

Since I teach 2nd grade, I teach many subjects, but I think my favorite might be Science. I personally try to make sense of things around me, so I find Science very interesting.

Teaching Reading makes me nervous. I'm the least confident teaching Reading. However, I'm slowly taking classes towards a Masters in Reading to hopefully make me into an amazing Reading teacher.

Describe your teaching style.

I love teaching in small groups. Reading and Math. This is why it kills me that I'm having trouble seeing how small group centers/rotations/stations fits into our new Math Expressions curriculum. I love them (and believe in them) that much.

I also try focusing more on the positive in my room than the undesirables in my room. Some days I do better with this than other days, BUT I am also trying out some Whole Brain Teaching in my classroom.

Give three interesting facts about you.

It's hard to know what's interesting about yourself. Maybe someone can relate with...

I don't like to fold laundry. Can't someone just invent an affordable dryer that dries your clothes then magically folds and organizes it too? I did however enjoy it yesterday morning as my two girlfriends sat in the room with me and chatted.

On a non-work day I easily sleep in until 9 or 9:30. Yep, I don't have any kids.

I love to ride my bike around the neighborhood or down to the frozen yogurt shop, but I don't do that often enough.

Do you have a TPT store?

Yes, I do. I started it January 1st. CLICK HERE to visit. For a long time I was trying to figure out what my niche would be, because at some point, I learned that that's the best way to be successful on TPT, and I think I enjoy making the book studies the most, so I think that'll be my niche... maybe.

  2. Hi Ms. Jones,

I totally want a magic dryer, too! Why can't they just automatically get hung up when they're done? Hehe. Anyways, so glad I found your blog through the Budding Blog linky and am your newest follower. Make sure to check out my blog if you get a chance. I'm doing a giveaway this week!
